Capt. Pat Tabor
I first starting
fishing in Aransas Pass, TX when I was 3 years old.
Though from what I've been told I was on a boat at 6
months. And I've been thanking my grandparents and
parents for that ever since. Then when I was around 10 I
fished my first tournament with my father and
grandfather. The problem was the only thing I won was a
rod and reel, and that was a door prize. But it didn't
matter, by then I had already "caught" the fishing bug.
See, originally I'm from San Antonio, TX, but I spent
all my summers with my "Papa & Mimi". They're in
Aransas, and when I wasn't fishing with Papa or on a
boat shrimping with one of his friends I would ride my
bicycle down to Hamptons Landing and fish for perch by
the cleaning tables. To me it didn't matter as long as I
was catching something.
It was there I met a friend that I will remember
forever. He was by all means a true old salt. His name
was Sid and for some reason or another he took a liking
to me. Whenever Sid and his black poodle would take his
old yellow tri-hull boat out he'd let me tag along and
fish with them and I loved every second of it. To this
day I still fish a few of the spots that old man showed
me. Unfortunately, Sid has passed on but I think he'd be
proud of me cause I still fish all the time.
Well enough with the history lets move into the present,
now on this website and my business cards you will
notice that it says I specialize in tournament fishing.
Let me explain...About 12 years ago I went from fishing
to fishing tournaments and winning a few with my good
friend and fellow guide Robert Strunk. So once I got a
feel for the way tournaments were run and how much
attention you get from them when you walk up to the
weigh master with the winning fish, I focused most of my
time doing that. But since I've gotten a little older,
and hopefully wiser, I've come to love all aspects of
the Sport of Fishing and want to share my passion and
knowledge with everyone. And with the help
of my new wife I have this new website and I'm anxious
to make new friends with all of you who I take out
catching!
Any way thank you for your interest in Hooked Up Guide
Service and until we meet, God Bless and hopefully you
are hooked up on your next time on the water.

Team Hooked Up was established the first
tournament I fished with my wife Shauna. I never knew
her true potential until that moment. It was Babes on
the Bay 2005. The weather was horrible as many of you
might remember if you attempted to fish. We were unable
to find one fish, soaking wet from the rain and got hung
up on a sand bar. We fished until the deadline of the
weigh-in and with no fish in tow decided to go home.
Unaware to me at that moment I had created a "Monster".
A month later we fished a tournament hosted by the
American Subcontractors Association of San Antonio and
took 2nd Place Heavy Trout. From then on we have placed
in the Top 3 of every tournament we have fished. At
times Team Hooked Up consists of 2 other teammates, a
great friend of ours, Jeremy Green, as well as another
great friend of ours and Godfather of my daughter, Joe
Jimenez.
Due to the fact that we have children and I'm considered
a "Professional Fisherman", I have taught Shauna what
she needs to know to Captain our boat without me aboard.
She and Jodie Algueseva, with Mojo Guide Service, have
teamed up to establish "Team Hooked Up with Mojo"! This
sexy duo (Shauna was due in September of 2006 with our
2nd child) competed in the 2006 Skinnywater Rodeo,
hosted by Ingleside Chamber of Commerce, and came out on
top!

As I said before, I
created a "Monster" in Shauna. All the tournaments that
were fished in 2006 she was pregnant and had every
intention of winning these tournaments by my side. As
they say, "Behind every true fisherman is the
Co-Captain, his Wife"!
